OPLS5: Towards a Highly Accurate Force Field with Universal Coverage

Abstract

We recount key milestones in the evolution of Schrödinger's OPLS series of force fields leading to a more in-depth discussion of the latest version, OPLS5. OPLS5 improves upon the accuracy of our previous models through the addition of explicit polarization to better represent molecular ions and cation-pi interactions and advances to the functional form used for metal-organic complexes.
